Efficiency for Good: GaiaWorks Joins the McDonald’s HK Charity Run as Silver Sponsor

Apr 21, 2026 | Calculating...

Last Saturday, as a leader in APAC workforce management (WFM), the GaiaWorks team joined 6,000 parents and kids at Happy Valley for the 17th McDonald’s Kidathon, which aims to raise funds for Ronald McDonald House Charities®. As of 2026, the event has raised a cumulative HK$110 million to support the cause. Established in 1996, the Ronald McDonald House® offers a “home away from home” for families of seriously ill children while they receive medical treatment.

The GaiaWorks Team Joins the Charity Run

Led by our CEO, Simpson Zhang, GaiaWorks stood as a Silver Sponsor —not just to put our logo on a banner, but to support a cause that mirrors our own mission. For us, the race was a physical manifestation of a core belief: technology only matters when it serves a human purpose.

Labor Management is About People, Not Just Punctuality

Workforce management (WFM) is frequently reduced to the mechanics of “punching in.” In the C-suite, discussions often center on compliance, labor cost optimization, and preventing time leakage. These are necessary metrics, but they are not the full story. At GaiaWorks, we view every digital timestamp as a record of human effort.

When a retail assistant in Causeway Bay or a logistics worker in Kwai Chung clocks in, they are committing their most finite resource—time—to an organization. Effective management must respect that commitment. If a system is rigid or poorly designed, it doesn’t just hurt the bottom line; it erodes the work-life harmony of the person behind the employee ID. We believe professional WFM solutions should provide the clarity and flexibility that allow workers to do their jobs well and then return to their lives with their dignity and time intact.

Why We Support RMHC: The Livelihood Behind the Schedule

We spend our days worrying about “time leakage” for companies. But for the families RMHC supports, “time” is a much heavier burden. They are balancing hospital vigils with the need to keep their jobs and lives stable. We supported this event because we believe technology should simplify a worker’s life, especially when that life gets difficult.

RMHC provides a “home away from home” for families of seriously ill children. We understand this struggle. While RMHC offers physical sanctuary, GaiaWorks aims to provide the predictability of a stable work schedule, allowing families to plan their lives with greater certainty. By supporting this charity, we acknowledge that when a family faces a health crisis, the community—and the technologies that organize our society—must act as a support net.

A Long-term Commitment to the Hong Kong Market

Hong Kong serves as the strategic pivot for our Asia-Pacific operations. Our expansion here is not merely about increasing our client roster; it is about solving the structural challenges of a frontline workforce known for its unmatched pace and resilience. From the severe talent shortages in the service sector to the high-pressure compliance environment of local labor laws, Hong Kong requires a specialized approach.

We are already deeply integrated into the local ecosystem, supporting both homegrown industry leaders and global giants like J&T Express and H&H Group. Our presence as a Silver Sponsor at the Kidathon reinforces our commitment to being a “local” partner. We are here to invest and grow alongside the Hong Kong community.

Human-Centric Technology as a Standard

Digital transformation in the workforce should result in more than just a prettier dashboard for HR leaders. It must result in a more resilient workforce where time is respected, compliance is effortless, and the human element is never lost in the data.

Whether on the racetrack at Happy Valley or in the backend of a complex retail scheduling engine, our focus remains the same: making work better for the people who do it. Our commitment to “Labor Efficiency for Good” ensures that as we move forward, we keep the human cost and the human value of time at the center of every line of code we write.
